Students begin learning about classical ballet through age-appropriate skill development with joy of movement & creative expression, coordination, self-assurance and music appreciation. BALLET IA & I (ages 4-6 years; no experience necessary)

The barre will be the primary area of focus for learning plies, tendus , and jetes, etc. 4th & 5th positions are added into combinations. Creative expression in the centre floore is secondary area focus, where the students will focus on learning port de bras, chasses, chaine turns, etc. Stretching and reverance at the end of class are the focus points of Ballet 1. At this level we work on proper technique of the basic movements, listening skills and memorization of combinations. 1A barre work includes a higer level of complication in combinations and expectation of work ethic. More emphasis is put on stretching and conditioning. 2 Classes a week is recommended.

BALLET II (ages 7-8 years; no experience necessary)
Beginning students will explore the fundamentals of ballet and will learn seamless transitions through standard arm, leg, and feet positions. This class provides experience in barre and center floor work to build strength and control within the body. Emphasis is placed on technique and body placement, stretching and extension, exercises for adage and port de bras. Also, correct balance and alignment will be emphasized in preparation for turns, and petite and grande allegro. Students will be expected to learn the French ballet terminology.

BALLET TECHNIQUE (ages 9+ years)
This class is for children who would like to improve their ballet technique by taking another class. The focus in Ballet Technique class is to emphasize the importance of body placement, strength and proper control within the body. This class will help prepare the dancer for combinations and centre floore work, which will be critical to the core of ballet performance in the future.

BALLET III (ages 8+ years; with one year of experience and instructor approval)
All aspects of Ballet II will be reintroduced at a more difficult level and faster pace. Ballet terminology must be understood at this level. Students will be exploring various technical combinations of steps and will learn short choreographed dances. A major factor for success in this class will necessitate practice and stretching on a daily basis. Students must arrive for class on time and ready to go. On time arrival means arriving with enough time to stretch, warm-up and mind set ready to work. A late arrival does not allow a student enough time to warm-up properly. This class is critical for preparing the dancer for pointe work to be introduced in Ballet IV.
