Class work includes 1st and 2nd foot positions, Demi-Plie, Releve, Tendu, Pique Pointe, Grand Battement, Saute and Chasse. Dancers learn ballet vocabulary, positions and proper technique thru imagination and creative movement. |
| Ballet I: Ages 4-6 — SEE PICTURES |
| Ballet I introduces 5th positions and Grande Plie into barre work. Class work adds degage, coupe, passé, rond de jambe, cambre and chaine turns. At this level we work on proper technique of all positions, listening skills and memorization. More self discipline is required. |
| Ballet II: Ages 5-7 — SEE PICTURES |
| Ballet II adds 4th position of the feet to class work. Dancers work on developing muscle memory, shoulder and hip alignment, arm positioning, turn out, foot placement and a single foot balance. More emphasis is put on core conditioning and stretching (Splits). Dancers experience a higher level of complication in combinations at the barre and across the floor. There is an expectation of a strong work ethic. |
| Ballet III: Ages 7-10 |

Dancer should exhibit an understanding of 8 count timing and en dedans and en detour directions. At this level the dancer is becoming a ballet "student". | BALLET IV (ages 10+ years; with two years of experience or more and instructor approval) — SEE PICTURES |
| Must have instructors approval before signing up for this class. This class is for ballet students interested in learning more difficult combinations and technique at a much faster pace. Intense workouts and should take at least 2+ classes a week to keep and maintain conditioning to stay at this level. Beginning Pointe work will be introduced when the student is ready on advisory from the instructor. |
| BALLET V / VI |
| Ballet 5/6 is where it all comes together. The most advanced steps are introduced. Therefore, students are expected to enroll, attend and rigorously participate in a minimum of three classes per week. Students should never be tardy, and are responsible for all their own dance equipment. Barre work will begin to decrease as emphasis is placed on center work. Dancers will increasingly develop self-knowledge about their individual body and style. The execution of turns will expand to include pique turns in open positions such as a la seconde, fouettes and grande pirouettes. Dancers learn how to finsh turns with control “no matter what.” In addition, the more challenging en tournant (turning) of previously studied adagio and petit allegro steps are practiced, increasing form and control. The small jumps learned previously will be executed with beats – batterie – in which the legs move rapidly in and out of position en l’air. The most difficult petite and grande allegro movements in which the dancer pushes off and lands on one foot are practiced. More emphasis is placed on linking steps in longer combinations, with increasing emphasis on arm and head placement. Strength and stamina are ever-increasing. This class is open by audition or by instructor approval only. |
| BALLET STRETCH (Ages 18+) |
| Ballet Stretch nurtures your body and your spirit. Increase your flexibility, strengthen your core muscles, tone your body and soothe your soul. Prior ballet training is not necessary. |
| POINTE (AGES 12+ ) |
| Pointe work is serious work for ballerinas, and not to be taken lightly. Students who wish to study pointe should be attending classes at least three times a week (in addition to pointe class). No student under the age of 12 will be considered for pointe work. The bones of the foot are not sufficiently formed to support dancers until this age. Beyond age and body development, there are technique levels of competency which must be reached before pointe work can be undertaken.
Lastly, the student must display a strong work ethic and commitment to dance before pointe work can be considered. |
