Ms. Emma has been dancing since the age of nine, and has since gained experience in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, modern, and lyrical. She spent the early years of her training at West Coast Dance FX and USA Sports, before joining the SBDA family at the age of 15, where she truly found her home, disciplined training, and inspiration that was foundational in creating who she is today. Her performance experience includes dozens of dance recitals, many SBDA Nutcracker productions (where she danced as the Shepherdess and the Mouse Queen, and later has come to choreograph and work behind the scenes), and several community performances. Outside of dance, Ms. Emma has obtained an associates degree in Psychology, and has worked as an administrative assistant in the insurance field. In the past, she has worked as a physical therapist’s aide, and as a recreational gymnastics coach, both of which have contributed to her ability to teach dance safely and effectively. She is beginning her fifth year of teaching at SBDA. The past five years of her teaching experience have included adult ballet, adult lyrical, beginner ballet technique, beginning, intermediate & advanced acrobatics (with dance fusion), beginning and intermediate modern, and beginning contemporary. She has choreographed the Arabian and Russian dances in the past three Nutcracker productions at SBDA. Ms. Emma enjoys teaching beginning ballet technique classes, as that is where she began her journey at SBDA- in the Ballet Technique class as an older, teen dancer. She is excited for another year of watching dancers of all ages be transformed by the art and athleticism of dance.
