Erica Meldrum began her formal ballet training in Texas, under the direction of Mark Lanham and Stephanie Parker. While under their very personal mentoring style, Erica was prepared to attend summer programs and receive training under guest artists such as Misty Copeland and many other gifted teachers. The foundation created by the Lanham’s provided the opportunity for acceptance into the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School. Here she was provided with a full-time intensive training program under the tutelage of Marjorie Grundvig and Dennis Marshall. The school also provided an excellent staff of professional ballet artists whose individual instruction contributed to her love of ballet and developing style as an artist. Erica then joined Ballet Idaho and had the pleasure of working under the direction of Artistic Director, Peter Anastos and Ballet Master, Alex Ossabnik. While dancing with Ballet Idaho, she performed roles in Peter Anastos’s The Nutcracker, A Midsummer’s Night Dream, The Sleeping Beauty, Ravel Piano Concerto, Balanchine’s Rubies, and many other contemporary works choreographed by company members and local artists.

In 2016, Erica joined San Benito Dance Academy’s faculty with a great desire to offer students training that could lead to professional careers, as well as academic opportunities. Erica recognizes the importance of becoming a lifelong learner to offer reputable instruction that parents and students can trust. She is currently working with “American Ballet Theatre’s National Training Curriculum” to become a certified teacher in all levels pre-primary through level 7. She has already completed the first training session and is now certified to teach levels pre-primary through level three of ABT’s curriculum. Erica is excited to continue sharing her love of ballet as well as implement new information to enlighten her students.
